Dear Friends and Supporters,

Tens of thousands of Americans from across the nation are planning to be in Washington, DC for the March FOR America on March 21st.  For more information on the Mobilization, please to go
www.WeMarchForAmerica.org.  Every day people are calling or writing to say that they are coming, that they are raising local resources, and that they're ready to fight for comprehensive immigration reform NOW!  Every part of this Campaign is zeroed in on maximizing the impact of this event on the politics of comprehensive immigration reform.  We all know what's at stake.

But we also know that we've never been stronger.  Take a moment to
see how much we've built so far.

Please also take a moment to support our partners in the Haitian immigrant community and their families by rallying around a bill (
H.R 4616) introduced by Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) in the House with a companion bill introduced by Senators Gillibrand (D-NY) and Menendez (D-NJ) in the Senate.  The earth quake in Haiti killed at least 112,405, injured nearly 200,000 and displaced up to 1 million people.  The Haitian Emergency Life Protection Act of 2010 would provide some critical relief to Haitian immigrants living in the United States.

This week, while we continued preparations to welcome so many of you from across the nation to Washington, DC on March 21st, together we kept up the drumbeat for reform from every corner of the immigration reform movement.  Here's a snap shot:

•    In Nevada, the Reform Immigration FOR America campaign continued a paid media buy on television and radio to help generate thousands of new subscriptions to our on-line and cell phone action networks in that state.  The ad can still be viewed
here

•    This week, Sojourners Magazine underscored the breadth of the growing moral voice helping to drive forward the call for comprehensive immigration reform by dedicating their
March issue to this topic.

•    On Thursday, law enforcement officials held a national press conference calling for comprehensive immigration reform and the need to end local enforcement of federal immigration laws.  They have joined their voice with organizations such as
The Police Foundation, the National Latino Peace Officers Association, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, and the Police Executive Research Forum that have held summits or released reports and resolutions calling on Washington to address and fix the problem.

•    The United We Dream coalition held a
national week of action calling for enactment of the DREAM Act and comprehensive immigration reform.  With more than 70 actions in 17 states, and coupled with the strength of more than 1000 leaders trained through the Movement Building Program organized by RI4A and the Campaign for Community Change, the youth arm of the immigration reform movement is stronger than ever.

•    This week, the Rights Working Group held a week of events around the Night of 1,000 Conversations, focusing on the
impact of racial profiling on immigrant and other minority communities in the United States.  The Detention Watch Network and many partners also launched the Campaign for Dignity, Not Detention: Preserving Human Rights and Restoring Justice

•    Even as we prepare for March 21, we know that many of you are preparing for the nation's census, which is also weeks away.  The U.S. Census, held every 10 years, is the single most powerful indicator of who we are as a nation. It not only dictates the story we tell about our demographic makeup-but it also determines the allocation of our federal purse strings and the seats of our political power.  The ya es hora: campaign has developed a variety of informational tools that we are asking you to share with your members and community partners. Sample census forms, action tools, FAQ's and events are all available on
http://hagasecontar.yaeshora.info/.  You can also go to the U.S. Census website or the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights' resource page to download additional flyers and templates for diverse immigrant audiences.

Wow.  There's a lot going on, and this didn't even cover a tenth of it.

See you in DC on the 21st!
