Day EIGHT: Phone Calls Needed |
GALEO and other community groups in Georgia begin efforts to draw attention to immigration reform with a "Week of Action." GALEO, in
partnership with the national movement, Reform Immigration for America,
and other local allies, will engage community members is in-district
visits to Congressional offices, phone calls to Congressional offices
during the visits, a Latino prayer service, community roundtable
discussions around the state (Gainesville, Athens, Savannah) and a town
hall meeting in Metro Atlanta to discuss immigration legislation and
Latino engagement. The week of action will be capped off with a rally
coordinated by GALEO at the State Capitol and a prayer service coordinated by ABLE on Wednesday, January 20th.
What YOU CAN DO TODAY:
Your voice of reason is needed! Make a few phone calls today to put
pressure on Georgia's Congressional delegation to move forward with a
workable solution to our failed immigration policies. In order to
uphold our values as Americans and end the separation of families, we
need your voice. Together, we will make the difference necessary for us
to achieve immigration reform in 2010. We must all do our part. Doing
nothing is not an option.
In the last several days, GALEO staff and members will be
visiting or have visited the following members of the Georgia Congressional Delegation.
Please support our in-district Congressional office visit by making a
call to all of these offices and state the following:
· "My name is ________. I am calling to support GALEO members who will visit your office today.
· When it comes to immigration, we need real solutions that uphold our nation's values, and move us forward together.
· But our current immigration system is badly broken.
· We need practical solutions to fix our broken immigration system,
so people can get legal, pay taxes, and participate fully in American
society.
· The time is now for President Obama and Congress to pass commonsense immigration reform. Thank you."
Please make the following calls to these offices today:
U.S. Rep. John Barrow: (912) 354-7282
U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston: 912-352-0101
U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall: 877-464-0255 or 478-464-0255
Tell your friends and family to take action today as well.
Promote the texting campaign by inviting your friends and family to
text "Justice" or "Justicia" to 69866. We will grow the movement for
immigration reform only with YOUR help!
